I'm your man [serie "देवीमाहात्म्यम" (Glory of the Goddess) nº3; (Juno) versão 0.01]







Caprotina is an epithet of Juno in Her aspect as a fertility Goddess. As Juno Caprotina She is associated with goats (Latin
capra, "she-goat", caper, "he-goat") and with figs, both of which are symbolic of fertility: the fig fruit bears many seeds, and goats are well-known for their randiness. Her festival was called the Nonae Caprotina, or the "Nones of Caprotina", and it was exclusively celebrated by women, especially slave-women.

The milk-like sap of the fig tree connects it with fertility, both of Juno as the Mother Goddess—who was after all equated with the Greek Hera, whose spilled breast milk was said to have formed the Milky Way—and of goats themselves, who were often kept for milk (even now a bowl of goat's milk is a part of the traditional breakfast offered in Rome).

Juno Caprotina was usually depicted with goats, naturally enough: on one coin She rides a biga, a two "horse" chariot in this case drawn by a pair of goats; Her dress flows in the wind of Her speed and She holds what looks like a riding crop. On another coin, on which Her portrait is stamped, She wears a head-dress made of goat-hide, with the goat's head over Her own so that the horns are preserved in the back, and the lower jawline of the goat runs along Her own.

The other major theme of the Nonae Caprotina was the ritual spiritual cleansing of the city: the fig was known in ancient times as a purgative, and thus associated with the driving out of evil (as both figs and fig-branches were used in the Greek rite of the Thargelia, when Athens was symbolically cleansed), so that the people and the crops might prosper. It may also connect to a symbolic driving out of enemies or bad spirits.*

Trouxe estas imagens da terra do Leonard Cohen, gravadas numa memória cibernética; tal como ficcionado no filme "até ao fim do mundo", as pessoas podem ficar viciadas nas imagens dos seus próprios sonhos.
Mas o que me ficou indissoluvelmente gravado na gelatina do cérebro foram palavras.

Um poema de Wallace Stevens, e uma situação.
A sua leitura, em redor de uma mesa virtualmente decorada com Cognac e cervejas. "Connoiseur of Chaos".
Tal como também ficcionado no mesmo filme de Wenders, as palavras encadeadas em narrativas podem ser a cura para a "adição das imagens".
Mas são poucos, muito poucos os que se questionam sobre o vício que as palavras e os seus latifúndios podem representar.

Juno



The month of June was named after her.

the Roman Great Goddess, the Queen of the Gods, Sky-Goddess, Protectress of Women, Mother of Mars, Wife of Jupiter.
Protector and special counselor of the Roman state. As the patron goddess of Rome and the Roman empire she was called Regina.

As each man was believed to have a protective guardian spirit called a genius, so each woman had one called a juno. These guardian spirits (in the plural, junones) may have originally been the ghosts of the ancestors who were believed to watch over and protect their descendents. They were usually represented as snakes (probably relating to the chthonic or underworld aspect of the Dead), and were given offerings on the individual's birthday at the household altar.

The primary feast of Juno Lucina, called the Matronalia, was celebrated on March 1. On this day, lambs and other cattle were sacrificed to her.

The celebration consisted of a parade of married women to the temple of Juno bearing gifts for the goddess. In the homes, wives received gifts from their husbands, and the matron of the house would have a feast for the female slaves belonging to the household.



Another festival took place on July 7 and was called Nonae Caprotinae ("The Nones of the Wild Fig").

Many people consider the month of June, which is named after the goddess who is the patroness of marriage, to be the most favorable time to marry. Lucina was an epithet for Juno as "she who brings children into light."

Juno's own warlike aspect among the Romans is apparent in her attire. She often appeared armed and wearing a goatskin cloak, which was the garment favoured by Roman soldiers on campaign.*
